Latest Walkman® and Cyber-shot™ phones

London, UK – 11th October, 2007 – With Christmas sales fast approaching, Sony Ericsson today announces that its latest Walkman® and Cyber-shot™ phones, the W910 and the K850, will be available in stores across selected markets from this month.

Since the launch of the W800 in August 2005, sales of Walkman® phones have reached 45 million units. The first Cyber-shot™ phone launched in June 2006 and volumes are now reaching 13 million units. The W910 and the K850 build on these successes and continue to deliver the best mobile music and camera phone experiences. Both new phones boast Turbo-3G speeds (HSDPA) for fast download of music and other content and come packed with unique features.

Slide to a new Walkman® beat
The W910 Walkman® phone is designed for entertainment; whether music, 3D games, video, or high-speed Web access. It’s also geared to let you choose your music, your way. Select Shake control and just flick the phone to control games or skip and shuffle between music tracks. Or opt for SensMe™ and discover music to match your mood and tempo. The W910 can hold over 900 of your favourite songs* on the 1GB Memory Stick Micro™ that is provided out of the box, with room for plenty more thanks to the expandable memory.

You can now even colour-match your W910 with some of Sony Ericsson’s bestselling accessories. The Portable Speakers MPS-70 and the Stereo Bluetooth ™ Headset HBH DS-220 now come in the same Hearty Red colour so you can enjoy your music in complete style.

“Our users tell us how important it is to have their music always with them – and to be able to get it on to their phone with a minimum of fuss. This is why we have great expectations for the W910”, says Ben Padley, Head of Music Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “The W910 makes it quicker and easier than ever before to transfer or download music so that it is always available at your fingertips. The ‘slider’ design is also something that resonates well with our customers; the W580 Walkman® phone was the best selling Sony Ericsson mobile phone globally in Q3 of this year”.

Your camera always with you
The K850 Cyber-shot™ phone is equipped with a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus, Xenon flash and Video Light that together help produce true digital camera results. Even if you are not an expert photographer, the K850 does everything to help you get the best possible shots on your phone. Photo Fix automatically improves light balance in one click to make your picture as good as it can get. When taking a picture of a moving object, for example at a sports event, you can select BestPic™ and take nine pictures in one burst. Then simply choose the best and delete the rest.

“Sony Ericsson is first and foremost about offering the best phone for you, but with the K850 we also give consumers a 100% credible alternative to a digital camera”, says Sven Totté, Head of Imaging Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “With unique features such as BestPic™, Photo Fix and Auto Rotate combined in an easy to use and intuitive phone, the K850 delivers the best picture quality of any camera phone currently on the market”

The Sony Ericsson W910 Walkman® phone will be available in either Hearty Red or Noble Black. The K850 Cyber-shot™ phone has a colour choice of either Velvet Blue or Luminous Green. Both will be available in-store across selected markets from October 2007.

Sony Ericsson introduces the K630 – turbo 3G and e-mail on the move.

January 7, 2008

Sony Ericsson introduces the K630 – turbo 3G and e-mail on the move.

London, UK – 11 October 2007 – Sony Ericsson today announces the K630, a stylish all-rounder fully packed with all the features needed for managing work life as well as your favourite pictures, video and music.
Mobile Broadband (HSDPA)
Browse the internet, download music or email at broadband speed. Up to 4 times faster than regular 3G speeds*.

E-mail on the move
Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync preloaded.

Your media in your pocket
One source in the menu for access to all media. Drag and drop music and videos between phone and PC using Media Manager.
Information Your Way
Available in two colours – Havana Gold and Quick Black – the new Sony Ericsson K630i keeps you in control, fully informed and entertained at all times. Powered by turbo 3G (HSDPA) and weighing in at only 97 grams, the K630 delivers a PC-like Web surfing experience in a pocket-sized frame.

Pre loading of Microsoft® Exchange ActiveSync gives you the possibility to mirror your PC/laptop inbox, look out for urgent e-mails and write quick responses. Add to this your Desktop widgets; animated icons that sit on your phone’s desktop and give one press access to your favourite websites, and its easy to see how the K630 brings the Web into your phone. RSS Feeds can even be set-up to keep you up-to-date with the latest news, weather and entertainment.

Your media in your pocket
You never know when you might need to snap a picture, so the K630’s 2.0 megapixel camera is always on-hand to shoot still pictures or moving images. Share these instantly with friends via MMS, email or postcard; or by uploading them to your own online gallery, or blogsite. Share the Web address with friends and family to instantly give them access to all your latest photos or video clips.

The K630 also provides a true music experience. It comes with 256MB Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) in-box and supports up to 4 gigabytes – that’s up to 3600 full-length tracks. That sounds like a lot, but the K630’s Mobile Broadband (HSDPA) capability means it only takes about 14 seconds to download a full-length music track*; up to four times faster than average on a regular 3G phone. To make things easier still, the K630 features a dedicated music key to help you navigate all of those songs.

The phone features an in-built Media Browser, meaning that there is just one location on the K630’s menu to launch the music player, video player or photo gallery, and so access all of your in-phone content. The K630 comes complete with new Media Manager software in-box to let you easily move your favourite music, photos, videos and more between your PC and your phone. Music tracks or video clips will be automatically converted into phone-friendly formats and creating playlists or adding album artwork to your tracks is simple.

“The thinking behind the K630 is that it can give you more time to do the things you really want to,” says Martin Winkler, Head of Web Marketing at Sony Ericsson. “The K630 is the perfect tool for managing your day-to-day agenda and keeping up with email, but it is much more than a work-horse. It is the perfect companion for those ‘down-time’ moments, such as waiting for a train, where listening to music or watching a video can make time go that bit faster.”

The Sony Ericsson K630 will be available in selected markets from Q4 2007.

Units shipped in the quarter reached approximately 26 million, a 31% increase compared to the same period last year. Sales for the quarter were Euro 3,108 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 7%. Income before taxes for the quarter was Euro 384 million, representing a year-on-year decrease of 11%, which reflects the exceptional third quarter the company experienced in 2006. Net income for the quarter was Euro 267 million. In line with Sony Ericsson expectations, the increase in low- and mid-tier priced phones in the product portfolio in the third quarter resulted in a decline in Average Selling Price (ASP) to Euro 120.

“““The quarter has seen Sony Ericsson continue to generate significant year-on-year volume growth with a portfolio of products spread across the widest variety of price points in the company’s history. Low- and mid-tier priced models such as the W200 Walkman® phone and simple ‘talk and text’ range of phones have been key volume drivers during the quarter, while the high-spec P1 smartphone and W580 slider Walkman® phone have been well received and strengthen the portfolio at the higher-end,” said Miles Flint, President of Sony Ericsson. “We are confident that the remainder of the year will see us further capitalize on this new broader portfolio with flag-ship Walkman® phone models such as the W910 and W960 plus the much anticipated 5 mega-pixel Cyber-shot™ K850 camera phone launching in time for the holiday season.””

During the quarter Sony Ericsson strengthened its position in North America and Latin America as well as Western Europe due to well accepted Walkman® and Cyber-shot™ phones. Previously announced activities to further strengthen the overall portfolio such as manufacturing and R&D activities in India, plus an R&D licensing agreement with Sagem continue to progress as planned.

Sony Ericsson forecasts that the 2007 global handset market will be above 1.1 billion units. The company gained around 1% of market share compared with the same period last year and finished the third quarter at over 9%.

As communicated at the beginning of the year, a capital redemption of total Euro 300 million was paid to the parent companies in the quarter.

During the quarter Sony Ericsson announced that the company’s president Miles Flint will step down as of November 1st 2007. Effective 1st November Hideki ‘Dick’ Komiyama, currently Director, Chairman, Sony Electronics Inc., USA, and EVP Electronics Marketing and Sales Strategies, Sony Corporation, Japan, will succeed Miles Flint, who will remain as Executive Advisor to Dick Komiyama until the end of December 2007. Dick Komiyama will be based at Sony Ericsson’s offices in London.

Invoices from Ericsson amounted to Euro 152 million in the quarter, which was offset from the advance payment made by Sony Ericsson to Ericsson in the first quarter of 2007.

WALKMAN® and Cyber-shot™ are trademarks or registered trademarks of Sony Corporation.

Ericsson, Sony and Sony Ericsson to demonstrate new multimedia experience for the connected home

January 7, 2008

Ericsson, Sony and Sony Ericsson to demonstrate new multimedia experience for the connected home

During Broadband World Forum in Berlin October 8-11, Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC), Sony (NYSE:SNE) and Sony Ericsson will jointly demonstrate the possibilities of new multimedia experiences between mobile handsets and home network devices. The combination of technologies based on IMS and DLNA standards will enable consumers to access innovative multimedia services anywhere, anytime and on any device.

Continuing the successful technology collaboration between Ericsson and Sony, as demonstrated at Globalcomm in June 2006, the collaborative partnership now includes Sony Ericsson, bringing together three important areas – consumer electronics, telecom networks and mobile phone devices – to address a complete ecosystem.

Ericsson, Sony and Sony Ericsson are developing, prototyping and exploiting an interworking solution that will connect Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) based consumer devices to IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) based services via gateways based on the Home IMS Gateway concept.

This solution allows consumers to enjoy new multimedia experiences between mobile and home networked devices, empowering the access, control and sharing of content stored at home using any device anywhere, as well as communication services such as presence and messaging.

Jan Wäreby, Senior Vice President and Head of Business Unit Multimedia, Ericsson, says: “Ericsson is once again playing the role of innovator, driving the standardization of IMS at the same time that electronic companies develops their DLNA standardization. Ericsson makes sure that harmonization and collaboration takes place so that operators can maximize the huge potential of IMS, and consumers enjoy a richer multimedia experience. Our partnership with Sony and Sony Ericsson is evolving and will provide further benefits to the multimedia industry.”

Keiichiro Shimada, Senior Vice President and President of Technology Development Group, Corporate R&D, Sony Corporation, says: “We are very pleased to have this opportunity to demonstrate our technological collaboration with Ericsson and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications. This demonstration shows how the combination of the two crucial standards can enrich end-users’ communication and entertainment.”

Rikko Sakaguchi, Senior Vice President, Head of Portfolio & Propositions, Sony Ericsson, says: “We are truly excited to be a part of such a unique collaboration, which symbolizes a new beginning for mobile communication beyond mobile phone devices. The interworking of IMS and DLNA introduces users to new ways of communication with the possibility of enjoying and sharing rich multimedia content anytime, anywhere, on any device and with anyone. At Sony Ericsson we strive to energize the experience of communication.”

At the Broadband World Forum, the three companies will demonstrate IPTV, remote media access and place-shift TV services. In the demonstration a Sony prototype TV connects into Ericsson’s IMS-based service backend and IPTV Core via a home server (SIP-to-DLNA interworking) and the Home IMS Gateway. Mobile media access and remote place-shift control will be demonstrated on a Sony Ericsson P1 mobile phone.

Sony Ericsson launches new ‘Havana’ collection exclusively with Vodafone
28 September 2007 London, UK – 28th September 2007 – Sony Ericsson today announces an exclusive colour range with Vodafone that combines both companies’ expertise in mobile music with a unique new style, labelled the Havana collection and finished in a stand-out Havana colour.

Exclusively with Vodafone
Sony Ericsson music phones in a sophisticated Havana colour, exclusively with Vodafone
Exclusively for Everyone
A unique colour available across a selection of 3 stylish mobile phones
Inclusive of Everyone
Share the music on your phone. Portable Speakers colour-matched to complement the Havana mobile phone collection

The chic family of mobile phones and accessories unveiled today by Sony Ericsson and Vodafone sets out to combine music with fashion. The new collection comprises exclusive colour variants of the popular W880i and W910i Walkman® phones, plus a colour-matched music accessory, the Portable Speakers MPS-70. The final addition to the collection is the Sony Ericsson V640i, a music-enabled phone available exclusively to Vodafone customers in selected markets*.

W880i Walkman® phone in Havana colour
The Sony Ericsson W880i Walkman® phone has become a style ‘must-have’ since its launch in early 2007. As Sony Ericsson’s slimmest phone to date at just 9.4mm thin, the W880i fits neatly into a handbag or pocket; not that you will want to keep it there with the stunning new Havana colour. Still able to store up to 900 full-length tracks on the 1GB Memory Stick Micro™ – that’s around 75 albums – this exclusive colour refresh adds further desirability to an already feature-packed phone.

W910i Walkman® phone in Havana Bronze
The new W910i is a 3G broadband (HSDPA) Walkman® phone that is designed for entertainment; whether music, 3D games, video, or high-speed Web access. It is geared to let you choose your music, your way. Select Shake control and just flick the phone to control games or skip and shuffle between tracks. Or opt for SensMe™ and discover music to match your mood and tempo. The W910i is the ideal mobile music companion, and with the addition of the exclusive Havana treatment it is ideal for Vodafone customers who are looking for a great Walkman® phone with added style.

Sony Ericsson V640i in Havana Gold
The Havana collection is further extended by the launch of the Sony Ericsson V640i, exclusively available to Vodafone customers. The V640i is a music-enabled phone that offers high-speed 3G broadband (HSDPA) performance. As with the W910i Walkman® phone, the V640i offers Media Manager software***, making it straightforward to transfer music, photos, videos and more from PC to phone and vice versa.

All of the phones in the Havana collection let you download music directly from Vodafone’s Music Store, either via 3G or high speed 3G broadband (HSPDA). With the V640i it takes around 14 seconds to download a full-length music track**.

The three mobile phones also feature Sony Ericsson’s exclusive TrackID™ music recognition software, which lets you identify a music track played from an external music source and receive a notification back within seconds of the artist name, song title and album. Once you have identified it, you can then download the full-track from Vodafone’s Music Store.

Bring more colour to your music
Both Sony Ericsson and Vodafone realise that having ‘music on your mobile’ is about more than keeping your sounds to yourself. That’s why they have added an exclusive Havana version of the popular Portable Speakers MPS-70 to the Havana collection. These provide music-lovers with the ability to share their music collections with friends, simply by plugging them into their Sony Ericsson phone. Announced today in a colour that perfectly complements the rest of the Havana collection, they provide great audio performance with clear sound.

Peter Marsden, Vice President and Head of the Vodafone customer group at
Sony Ericsson, said: “The new Havana collection, developed exclusively with Vodafone, incorporates three different music-enabled phones to ensure everyone’s mobile music needs are met in a stylish way. The inclusion of the Portable Speakers in the collection means that Vodafone customers will be able to enjoy their mobile music library, wherever they are, and whoever they’re with.”

“Sony Ericsson’s strong heritage in producing innovative mobile music devices, combined with Vodafone’s expertise in bringing customers best music and entertainment services across a fast and reliable network service is an ideal combination which will appeal to a wide range of our customers across the world” said Jens Schulte-Bockum, Global Director, Terminals, Vodafone Group.

Notes to Editors
The Havana collection will be available across a number of Vodafone Operating Companies in Europe including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom, in the coming months.

Sony Ericsson introduces the V640i, exclusively with Vodafone – your music and more.

January 7, 2008

Sony Ericsson introduces the V640i, exclusively with Vodafone – your music and more.

London, UK – 28th September 2007 – Sony Ericsson today announces the V640i, a stylish music phone with a funky feature set, available exclusively with Vodafone in selected markets*.

Real music, real time
Download a full-length track in around 14 seconds**
Name that song
Record a song clip on your phone, identify it immediately using TrackID™ and download it instantly
Manage your media
Drag and drop music and videos between phone and PC

Available in two rich colors or shades – Havana Gold and Quick Black – the
Sony Ericsson V640i available exclusively with Vodafone provides a true music and entertainment experience. With support for Memory Stick Micro™ (M2™) up to 4 gigabytes – that’s up to 3600 full-length tracks – and a dedicated music key to help you navigate all of those songs, the V640i really can be your music library on-the-move.

The V640i is designed to appeal to music lovers looking for no-compromise performance. Weighing in at a pocket-sized 97grams, it delivers 3G Broadband (HSDPA) Web browsing on your mobile. It also means that it takes about 14 seconds to download a full-length music track**; up to four times faster than average on a 3G phone.

There’s no need to worry if you just can’t place a song that you hear on the radio. The V640i’s in-built TrackID™ feature lets you record a 5 second music clip – either by tagging it from the phone’s own FM Radio or from a nearby stereo – and then within seconds receive notification back of the song title, the artist and the album name. The TrackID™ music recognition software can then provide a direct link to the homepage of Vodafone’s Music Store for fast track download. Hear it, identify it and own it.

More than just a music phone, the Sony Ericsson V640i keeps you entertained and fully informed. It will playback video at 15 frames per second and this, coupled with the bright 2.0 inch screen, makes it ideal for checking out the latest music videos when you are on-the-move. The V640i comes complete with pre-loaded Google Maps and eBay clients*** and also supports RSS Feeds to keep you up-to-date with the latest news, weather and entertainment.

If you prefer to capture the action for yourself, the V640i’s 2.0 megapixel camera is always at hand to shoot still pictures or moving images. Share these instantly with friends via MMS, email or postcard; or by uploading them to your own online gallery, or blogsite. Share the Web address to share your latest photos or video clips.

The V640i comes complete with new Media Manager**** software to let you easily move your favorite music, photos, videos and more between your PC and your phone. Music tracks or video clips will be automatically converted into phone-friendly formats and creating playlists or adding album artwork to your tracks is simple.

“The new V640i is a great all-rounder that is packed with advanced music capabilities,” says Peter Marsden, Vice President and Head of the Vodafone customer group at Sony Ericsson. “It’s designed to allow users to get the most from Vodafone’s music services, such as the Vodafone Music Store, without compromising on the ease-to-use and strong design that they expect from a Sony Ericsson.”

Jens Schulte-Bockum, Global Director, Terminals, Vodafone, said: “The new V640i from Sony Ericsson offers our customers a stylish, desirable and fashionable mobile device that does not compromise on music capability or performance. It’s a great balance of form and function.”

The Sony Ericsson V640i is available exclusively in Vodafone stores from Autumn 2007.

Sony Ericsson announces change of leadership effective 1st November

London, UK – 4th September 2007- Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications today announces that Miles Flint has decided to step down from his position as President of Sony Ericsson. Effective 1st November Hideki ‘Dick’ Komiyama, currently Chairman of the Board of Sony Electronics Inc., USA, and EVP Electronics Marketing and Sales Strategies of Sony Corporation, Japan, will succeed Miles Flint, who will remain as Executive Advisor to Dick Komiyama until the end of December 2007. Dick Komiyama will be based at Sony Ericsson’s offices in London.

Commenting on today’s announcement Miles Flint said, “After nearly 17 years in Sony and Sony Ericsson, I wish to develop new personal and business opportunities and intend to take a short career break before deciding on my next steps. Leading a major mobile handset company which is also a joint venture between two of the world’s great companies has been a wonderful and rewarding experience. The belief amongst shareholders, employees, customers and suppliers in the potential of Sony Ericsson has been a huge motivating factor in the company’s success to date. I believe that, together, we have in place very firm foundations for the next phase of Sony Ericsson’s growth, and I wish Dick Komiyama every success in his new role.”

Miles Flint joined Sony Ericsson from Sony Europe in June 2004. Under his leadership the company has enjoyed a period of outstanding growth and success, as well as the development of a richer and broader product portfolio, including the introduction of Walkman® music phones and Cyber-shot™ imaging phones worldwide. Sony Ericsson has grown to become No. 4 in the global mobile handset industry and is today one of the most innovative and attractive brands for mobile communications and entertainment.

Carl-Henric Svanberg, Chairman of the Board of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications and President and CEO of Ericsson, said, “Miles Flint’s contribution to Sony Ericsson has been very impressive. He has led and managed the company to reach its current level of success, and we are very sorry to see him leave. However we fully understand and respect his reasons for wishing to step down and consider new personal and business opportunities.” He added, “Miles has been clear that his number one priority in the short term is to ensure a smooth handover to his successor and he will continue to be involved with Sony Ericsson’s business until the end of the year. He transfers the leadership of a business that is poised for significant further growth in the years to come.”

Sir Howard Stringer, Chairman and CEO of Sony Corporation, and a member of the Board of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, said, “We will miss Miles Flint enormously, but fully respect his wish to change direction. Under his leadership Sony Ericsson has doubled sales and volume, as well as more than doubling the company’s profitability, whilst also gaining global market share. Today Sony Ericsson’s position as a leading player in the global mobile handset industry is unquestioned.” He added, “I am delighted that Dick Komiyama, an esteemed colleague and international executive who has worked shoulder to shoulder with me at Sony Electronics in the USA and Sony in Japan will carry on the vision of Katsumi Ihara, Sony Ericsson’s first president, and of Miles Flint. With longstanding experience in the areas of consumer electronics marketing and business-to-business sales, Dick has accepted the challenge to lead Sony Ericsson in the next phase of its growth and development.”

Dick Komiyama said, “I am very pleased to be joining Sony Ericsson. The global mobile handset industry is facing some very interesting and exciting developments, especially with the convergence of audio and video technologies in the mobile communications space. New services and applications are becoming increasingly important to both operators and consumers, and I look forward to bringing to Sony Ericsson my experience in consumer marketing with a deep understanding of customer relationships.”

Nokia showcases leadership in converged devices, Internet services and exciting new ‘green’ initiatives

January 7, 2008

Nokia showcases leadership in converged devices, Internet services and exciting new ‘green’ initiatives

Consumer experiences take center stage with Nokia at CES 2008

Las Vegas, USA – At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Nokia (NYSE:NOK) is showcasing the industry’s widest array of wireless devices and is dedicating more exhibit space than ever before to hands-on demonstrations of Nokia-branded and third-party wireless applications, services and mobile experiences. This increased emphasis is a direct result of the growing importance of software and services in the wireless industry, and reflects Nokia’s evolution from a pure manufacturer of wireless hardware into a true Internet company. Another area of emphasis within the Nokia exhibit is the environment, and how Nokia has been leading the way in developing and utilizing environmentally responsible business practices. Nokia’s exhibit at CES 2008 is located in the upper level of the Las Vegas Convention Center’s south hall, booth #30313.

“Nokia is proud to be connecting more people around the world than anyone else as the world’s leading manufacturer of wireless handsets, and the leader in converged mobile devices. However, we are even more excited about the future of mobility, and how Nokia’s new focus on services is setting the stage for the transformation of the entire wireless industry,” said Mark Louison, President, Nokia Inc. “Most importantly, Nokia is focused on achieving its goals in a way that looks not only at the future of mobility, but is also mindful of the future of our environment as well.”

The leader in converged devices
Further cementing its position as the global leader in converged devices, Nokia today introduced the Nokia N95 8GB, optimized for the Americas market. The Nokia N95 8GB builds upon the legacy of the successful Nokia N95 by adding an even larger display and built-in 8GB of internal memory while supporting high-speed HSDPA networks on the 850MHz and 1900MHz bands that are prevalent across the Americas. Additionally, Nokia introduced a stunning limited-edition bright red version of the multiple award-winning Nokia N95 for the US which includes the full suite of highly acclaimed features that consumers across the globe are craving. Only 5,000 units of this special red Nokia N95 will be available during first quarter of 2008. This new limited edition red version of the Nokia N95, along with the current black and bronze versions, has an estimated retail price of USD 599.

The multi-award winning business-class Nokia E61i, was today named the “Best Mobile Handset for Enterprise” by InfoWorld and will be among the full range of Nokia’s converged devices on demonstration in the Nokia exhibit. In addition, Nokia will also be highlighting the eagerly anticipated, award-winning Nokia N810 Internet Tablet, the musically-inclined Nokia 5310 XpressMusic and Nokia 5610 XpressMusic handsets and unique new mobile enhancements like the Nokia Power Pack DC-1 for easy recharging on the go and the Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-902, which includes its own display for caller ID and phonebook access.

Consumer experiences in the spotlight
More than half of Nokia’s CES exhibit will be dedicated to demonstrating the consumer experiences that are the driving force behind Nokia’s transition into an Internet company. Some of the services and applications on display include Nokia Maps; a fully-featured mapping and navigation application that is available for Nokia’s S60-based converged devices, Widgets; lightweight, web-based applications that deliver personalized content to Nokia devices, N-Gage; Nokia’s advanced, connected wireless game service, and Nokia Internet Radio, which delivers an ever-growing selection of Internet radio stations directly to any Nokia S60-based handset.

Along with these Nokia services, a number of exciting third-party applications will also be highlighted at the Nokia CES 2008 exhibit. These include SlingPlayer, which allows users to experience their home television directly from their wireless device via Wi-Fi or 3G networks, Rhapsody, the service that transforms the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet into a virtual jukebox with millions of songs on demand, and Skype, the popular VoIP service that is now available for the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet.

Driving responsible environmental practices
Nokia has long been the recognized leader in driving responsible environmental practices, and at CES 2008, a number of these innovations will be on display. The recently announced Nokia 3110 Evolve will be shown for the first time in North America. The device features a range of environmentally-focused features including covers which are made from over 50% renewable bio-materials, reduced size packaging, and a new charger that uses 94% less energy than required by Energy Star standards.

With an eye to the future, the Nokia Eco Sensor concept will also be shown for the first time in North America at CES 2008. The Nokia Eco Sensor concept examines how green technologies may be used in the future to create ever more sustainable devices. Inspired by the “three R’s” principle – reduce, reuse and recycle – the concept explores a range of potential new materials and technologies such as printed electronics, bio-materials and reclaimed materials. It also looks at ways that mobile technology could employ mobile sensing to monitor and report on both the health of the user and the surrounding environmental conditions.

Within the environmental display, Nokia will also have a recycling collection point where CES attendees can drop off old mobile phones and accessories for proper recycling. Visitors to the exhibit will also be able to see some of the environmental services available through Nokia devices.

New Nokia N95 8GB brings the best in portable entertainment to US consumers

January 7, 2008

New Nokia N95 8GB brings the best in portable entertainment to US consumers

Powerful new Nokia Nseries device offers high-speed access to a wide range of Internet content

Las Vegas, USA – With consumer demand for the most advanced wireless devices continuing to rise, Nokia (NYSE:NOK) announced today that it is optimizing the Nokia N95 8GB for networks using 850/1900 MHz HSDPA (high speed data packet access) in the Americas. Combining speed, technology and content – the new Nokia N95 8GB bridges the gap between traditional fixed entertainment centers and portable wireless devices with its stunning 2.8 inch QVGA screen with support for up to 16 million colors, eight gigabytes of built-in memory, A-GPS positioning for improved location access and enhanced battery life.

A recent global study commissioned by Nokia, entitled ‘A Glimpse of the Next Episode’, predicts that by 2012, up to 25 percent of all entertainment will be created and consumed within peer communities as opposed to traditional media groups. With this trend dubbed by Nokia as ‘Circular Entertainment’, devices such as the Nokia N95 8GB, which allow the consumer to create, edit and upload content directly to the Internet, will be more important than ever as consumers personalize content and make it their own.

“Today’s savvy consumer wants an all in one device that enables them to customize and share content immediately with their social communities. The Nokia N95 8GB fills this void as one of the most advanced wireless devices currently on the market in North America,” said Bill Plummer, Vice President, Go-to-Market, Nokia Americas. “With the addition of HSDPA for ultra-fast connectivity, the Nokia N95 8GB delivers on the promise of a multimedia computer in one surprisingly small package.”

The Nokia N95 8GB comes with the advanced feature set expected from a state-of-the-art Nokia Nseries multimedia computer. The new Nokia N95 8GB offers a class-leading five megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus, WLAN, and a full eight gigabytes of internal memory, allowing for storage of up to 20 hours of video* or up to 6000 songs**. Complete with captivating 3D graphics, the Nokia N95 8GB will also offer compatibility with the upcoming N-Gage games service. It is also a full-featured GPS device with assisted GPS (A-GPS) and a large map database covering more than 100 countries, including a number of US state maps preloaded. The Nokia N95 8GB will also support Nokia Share Online 3.0, which will be made available via Nokia Download! and will enable consumers to upload photos and videos with one click to Flickr or Vox, allowing them to quickly share content with their social communities.

Based on powerful Symbian S60 3rd Edition software, consumers can personalize their Nokia N95 8GB by choosing from a wide selection of advanced mobile applications, including games, navigation, entertainment, productivity and creativity. The Nokia N95 8GB comes out of the box ready to create, connect, consume and interact with some of the Internet’s most popular services including Yahoo! Search, Amazon’s MobiPocket Reader or Flickr. The device also features widget support which enables users to customize the online content they can receive quickly on their Nokia N95 8GB.

The N95 8GB multimedia computer has an estimated retail price of $749 and will start shipping to Nokia Nseries retailers across the United States, the Nokia flagship stores in New York and Chicago as well as online e-tailers during the first quarter of 2008.
