Amica Celebrates 100 Years on March 1
Amica Mutual Insurance Company celebrates 100 years of business on March 1, 2007. Founded a century ago in Providence, Rhode Island, Amica is the oldest mutual insurer of automobiles in the nation.

With 3,000 employees in 40 offices across the country, including 1,300 employees in Rhode Island, Amica provides insurance to more than 700,000 households. In addition to automobile insurance, Amica also writes homeowners coverage, personal umbrella liability, and marine insurance. Life coverage is available through Amica Life Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary.

Throughout the years, Amica has always been known for providing exceptional service to policyholders. In 2006, J.D. Power and Associates ranked Amica “Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among National Auto Insurers, Seven Years in a Row” and “Highest in Customer Satisfaction Among National Homeowner Insurers, Five Years in a Row.”*

For many years, Amica was also known as a company where new insureds needed to be referred to the company. While this is no longer the case, the practice reinforced the company’s reputation for quality.

Amica has always maintained its Home Office in Rhode Island. In the 1990s Amica moved from Providence to an 87-acre office park in Lincoln, RI.
